Here we have nx = 4 predators with cx = 3 prey each, and ny = 6 prey with cy = 2 predators each. The bold lines illustrate the connections to the focal node before and after removing a node from the network. Predator nodes (black) only have local contributions from prey nodes (white) and vice versa. In the mean-field approximation for the power spectral density, these contributions are replaced by the average of each group.
