ae The time-series of reconstructed 3D atomic-resolution images generated for the successive exit waves shown in the Supplementary Fig. 2. The 3D images depict the atoms with a color reflecting the stoichiometry of each atomic column and a color modulation in accordance with the V’ values (Fig. 1d). Specifically, 1Mo is denoted by green dots, 1Co by blue dots, 2S columns by red dots, 1S columns by red dots over white dots and S vacancies by white dots. The corresponding exit waves are obtained from image acquisitions commencing at 153 s, 378 s, 423 s, 574 s, and 624 s, relative to time t = 0 s when the electron beam was switched on (Supplementary Fig. 2).
