Complex 1 is deprotonated by organo-alkali metal reagents to afford the imido dimers 2M. The imido dimers 2M can be converted to the imido monomers 3M by addition of Me6-Tren. Either isolated or in situ prepared 2M when heated in benzene afford the nitride dimers 4M, which can be converted to the nitride monomers 5M by addition of Me6-Tren. Complexes 6M were not isolated, but their oxidation product, 1, was isolated.
