Asteraceae is one of the most species-rich families of flowering plants with more than 23,000 species. The number of non-sampled (missing) species increases enormously towards the more derived and species-rich lineages. For this reason, the sampling among clades is severely biased. Note that these rich and derived lineages evolved during the late Paleogene or early Neogene. K Cretaceous, Pg Paleogene, Ng Neogene.
