The inset line graph shows the original VE time series and the three VE time series plots calculated from the detrended As, fd,ice, and Elake, respectively. The gray areas in the map indicate no data. The “Original” line represents the VE time series from the global lake evaporation volume (GLEV) dataset. The “Adetrended” line represents the VE time series obtained by detrending the surface area time series for each lake. Similarly, the “Icedetrended” and the “Edetrended” lines show the VE time series obtained after detrending the ice duration and the evaporation rate time series (respectively) for each lake.
