The adsorption-induced nqp–to–lcp lattice transformation experiences simultaneous pore opening and closing (nqp-4w to nqp-2w state) with a large energy requirement of 158 kcal mol−1, after which nqp-2w-L/R can be converted to lcp-2w to reduce the lattice energy.
