a CO adsorption; b CO oxidation. Plots of CO and CO2 band intensity against time (c) and plot of the CO stretching band maximum against time (d) for an experiment at 25 °C. Experimental conditions: Flow rate is 30 mL min−1; modulation period is 100 s; number of spectra in one cycle is 60. For CO adsorption, during the first half-cycle 1% CO in He was flowed through the cell, then the feed gas was switched to He for the second half-cycle. For CO oxidation, during the first half-cycle 1% CO and 1% O2 in He was flowed through the cell, then the feed gas was switched to He for the second half-cycle.
