a The experimental pulse diagram depicting the microwave pulses (blue) interleaved with repeated initialization (A1) and measurements (Ex), for preparation of the bath state via CT sequence Mn,m. Following the Mn,m sequence, the FID of the probe spin is measured again and compared with the original FID. b, c The FID of the probe spin interacting with the purified bath state by M0,4 (orange) and M4,0 (blue) is compared with the average FID obtained from all possible conditional bath state preparations (red). The same procedure is repeated for two different measurement intervals τ = 600 ns (b) and τ = 1200 ns. The solid lines are fits to the experimental data. The experimental plots are in full agreement with the theoretical curves in Fig. 1c, d. The best fits take the form \(C(t)=1/2+a{{\rm {e}}}^{-{(t/T)}^{2}}\cos ({\omega }_{{\rm {B}}}t)\), where a, T, and ωB are fitting parameters (for details see the “Methods” section). The error bars for the experimental data shown here are few-percent large (see the “Methods” section).
