a–g A series of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) images showing the superplastic elongation of the AuCu alloy NW. The initial length of the NW is ~10.5 nm. Upon deformation, the NW first experienced elastic elongation and then was subjected to a homogeneous elongation as large as ~260%.
