L is the length of a particle and 2r is its diameter or width; and L is defined to be always larger than 2r. The smaller of the L/2r ratio is, the shape of the particle is closer to a fragment; whereas the larger of the L/2r ratio is, the shape of the particle is closer to a fiber. ρp indicates the density of a plastic particle.
