If some disturbance increases the number of mRNAs competing for ribosomes, the concentration of the constitutive protein psens falls, which activates the production of annihilator RNA manti. Hence, the concentration of the actuator mRNA mact decreases; so does the expression of the amplifier mRNA mamp, regulated by the actuator protein pact. The ribosomes previously sequestered by the amplifier and actuator mRNAs are therefore released, increasing the resource availability back to its original level.
