Kinetic resolution of phosphindole oxides by Rh-catalyzed asymmetric addition. To a dried Schlenk tube with a magnetic stirring bar were added racemic phosphindole oxide 1 (0.20 mmol), organoboronic acid 2 (0.30 mmol), and [RhCl(L4)]2 (3.2 mg, 0.004 mmol), followed by the addition of THF (1.0 mL) and aqueous solution of KOH (0.01 mmol in 0.1 mL H2O) under N2. The reaction mixture was stirred at 70 °C for 20 h under N2. Ac acetyl, p-Tol p-tolyl.
