In stress conditions, Alba 3/4 and PABP2 proteins assemble into cytoplasmic granules that partially colocalize. In differentiation, in contrast, PABP2 is not incorporated into granules, with Alba 3 and then Alba 4 predominating as the parasites transition from slender to stumpy forms. TbDYRK is not needed for granule formation but regulates granule localisation, assembly dynamics and specificity.
