a Schematic illustration of SCOPE for monkeypox virus detection. Rash fluid swab, oral swab, saliva, and urine samples were collected and processed with extraction-free viral lysis on the CPod at 80 °C for 2 min. The exposed monkeypox virus DNA was conducted with single-step RPA-CRISPR/Cas13a reaction at 37 °C for 10 min. Qualitative interpretation could be made through the indicator lights of the CPod, or quantitative interpretation was carried out by a smartphone application via wireless connection. b The operation workflow of SCOPE for monkeypox virus detection.
