The periodicity–variance spectrum of Atlantic perennial sea ice is shown in blue lines, and the Pacific perennial sea ice is shown in green lines. Red and orange lines indicate red noise with a 95% confidence interval for the sea ice extent and perennial sea ice, respectively.
