monocytogenes EGDe serovar 1/2a. Step 1: In the cytoplasm, RmlT decorates newly formed chains of ribitol-phosphate with rhamnose units from TDP-rhamnose. Step 2: Rhamnosylated WTAs are flipped across the membrane, probably by the Lmo1074-75 complex, homologue to the S. aureus two-component ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter TarGH. Step 3: Rhamnosylated WTAs are glycosylated by Lmo1079 with GlcNAc from a C55-P-GlcNAc intermediate previously formed by the cytoplasmic glycosyltransferase Lmo2550 using UDP-GlcNAc and then flipped across the membrane by the GtcA flippase. Step 4: Fully decorated WTAs are anchored to the cell wall, possibly by a homologue of the S. aureus TarTUV complex.
