GC traces for benzyl alcohol oxidation to benzaldehyde after 1 h of CPE experiment. Benzaldehyde was observed with 3SCC (red trace) and in the double mutant K6E/E8K-4SCC (orange trace), but no quantifiable product was observed with 4SCC (blue trace). After CPE, the product was extracted in DCM, dried over Na2SO4, and analyzed by GC.
