  1. To investigate the effect of the orientation bandwidth band expanding (orientation band enrichment protocol, top row), the central orientation (first column) and spatial frequency bandwidth (last column) were kept constant (0° and 0.04cpd, respectively), while different combinations of orientation bandwidth (second column: 5°, 25°, 45°) and central spatial frequency (third column: 0.04 cpd and 0.16 cpd) were presented. This resulted in a total of 6 different stimulus parameter combinations. The same principle was used for the spatial frequency band expanding protocol (bottom row).
