Darobactin (A, blue) was previously shown to bind to the lateral gate (strands β1 and β16) of the E. coli BamA β-barrel (PDB 7NRE42). Our x-ray crystallographic analysis shows that, in contrast, CP1 (B, pink), CP2 (C, yellow), and CP3 (D, teal) bind to the lumen of the BamA β-barrel.
