cPMO is a photocaged morpholino oligonucleotide where three photocaging groups are attached (pink color), and the morpholino unit is linked by a phosphorodiamidate linkage (pink lines, -), and also a regular cytidine is replaced by C5 phenylacetylene–modified cytidine. In cPMO2, the first four linkages are replaced by guanidinum (pink circumflex, ^), and the rest of the linkages constitute the phosphorodiamidate backbone.
