Correction to: Nature Communications https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-025-60217-2, published online 27 May 2025
In the version of the article initially published, there was a typo in the abstract where it was written the first confirmed human infection of mpox clade 1b in China occurred in December 2025 (and not December 2024 as is now corrected). In the fourth paragraph of the Introduction, there was a typo where, in the text now reading “On January 2025, the WHO announced the detection of five cases of clade 2b in China,” the month was missing. The typos are amended in the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
