mRNA of Mirana is detected at early pupal development, with peaking at P15–P30 APF, followed by Mirana protein peak expression levels at P30–P40 APF. This timepoint of temporal expression is a critical time window during which Mirana regulates expression of its target genes, including Pink1, and primes mitochondria health to ensure proper axon growth and circuit connectivity leading to appropriate visual responses.
