Fig. 6: Relationship of Spatial Aggregation Index and Seasonality Index across taxa.

This relationship (F-statistic (25 degrees of freedom) = 11.14, p = 0.002649, r2 = 0.28, 95% confidence intervals = [0.20, 1.19]) is assessed using a two-sided linear model. Data points are by taxon for each hemisphere (North Hemisphere points are shown as circles and South Hemisphere points are shown as triangles): SKP skipjack tuna, YFT yellowfin tuna, ALB albacore, BET bigeye tuna, FRI frigate tuna, STRM striped marlin, SAU sauries, SBFT Southern bluefin tuna, BFT Pacific bluefin tuna, SHOS shortbill spearfish, SWO swordfish, LESC longfin escolar, SLT slender tuna, BLUM blue marlin, and SAIL sailfish. Data are presented as the mean values ± SEM of the calculated Spatial Aggregation Index (x-axis) against the Seasonality Index ± SEM for each taxon (y-axis; See Methods). Quadrants are defined using the medians of the indices.
