a, b Similar to Fig. 1a, b. Here, we conducted nine atmosphere-only experiments (corresponding to sea-level rise 0−20 m, Methods). By applying the winter monthly average sea surface temperature anomaly to CAM4, we obtained the consistent intensification of extreme cold over East Asia. The results of each experiment are shown in Supplementary Figs. 16–17. These experiments run for 45 years, with analysis focusing on the final 40 years.
