The velocity profile v(x) of particles traveling through a xy-plane cutting across the throat of a funnel, D = 1.75 mm, at its mid-point along the y-direction, is recorded for g [1.0, 0.38, 0.16] G and µ [0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 0.9]. We fix ϵ = 0.5. At constant µ, the velocity decreases with g, as the driving weight force decreases. At fixed g, little variation in profile shape is observed across different µ, except that at low µ the particles along the wall tend to exhibit a large variation in velocity. Shading represents a standard deviation calculated for 16 repetitions.
