Groups of mice (n = 6) were immunized with 10 µg of Pro-6C constructs with alum. Day-56 serum was tested for antibody reactivity on ELISA plates coated with Pfs48/45-6C (a) and Pfs230-Pro (b). Antibody titers (dots represent individual mice) are expressed as EC50 values. Horizontal lines represent median values. c Functional activity of pooled sera (1:9 and 1:27 dilution) in the standard membrane-feeding assay (SMFA). Reported values and 95% confidence intervals (bars) are determined by general linearized mixed models and used oocyst-count data from two independent SMFA experiments with 20 mosquitoes per condition and experiment. Transmission-reducing activity is calculated by comparing with a nonserum control included in each SMFA.
