Electron micrographs are shown from control (WT) and sHSP-depleted (depl) HeLa cell lines, as described in Fig. 3a. M = mitochondria. Notice the extremely large size of some swollen mitochondria in the depleted HeLa cells. Scale bars represent 1 μm (for 10k images) or 250 nm (for 60k images). Images are representative of two samples of one replicate EM experiment.
