Note that two-layered melts occur most frequently below the Pacific plate (Hikurangi Plateau, Hawaii, Samoa, Marquesas and Society Islands), continental margins (North America, South America, Africa, Australia, Antarctica and East Asia), continental rifts (Baikal rift, Red Sea rift and the Gulf of California) and rifted microcontinents (Zealandia, Mauritius, Arabia and Iran).
