Impacts occur in the xz plane in the −z direction (vertical impact). Cross sections (particles within y = ±0.1Rimp) are plotted. The top and bottom panels show cases of the H2O ice EOS and the SiO2 rock EOS, respectively. The left and right halves of each panel show the temperature and pressure using the colour contour. Plotted time is the case where the impactor radius is rimp = 10 μm, and it is linearly scaled by rimp.
