The majority of ARGs originated from Proteobacteria. Data available in Source Data File 7. b, The figure shows the number of ARGs identified in the different mechanistic categories and the functional compatibility of each category with multiple hosts (n = 114). The most frequent categories were antibiotic inactivation, antibiotic efflux and regulators of antibiotic efflux. Data available in Supplementary Table 7.
