Each of these clusters of positive vorticity (shown in blue) was detected in a monolayer of wild-type P. aeruginosa using velocity fields obtained by PTV (Materials and Methods). Solid red lines show the complete perimeter, dashed green lines show the accessible external perimeter, black circles show the radius of gyration, and black crosses show the center of mass of each cluster.
