Hourly-averaged oxygen fluxes (green) and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR; grey) measured over a daily cycle in June 2019 for the P. oceanica meadow (a) and unvegetated sandy sediments (b). Negative fluxes during night indicate net respiration, whereas positive fluxes during the day indicate net photosynthesis. The small positive oxygen fluxes in the lower panel indicate the presence of benthic algae.
