  1. The labels ‘1.25’, ‘1.5’, and ‘Incl.’ represent the treadmill conditions of walking at 1.25 m s−1, walking at 1.5 m s−1, and walking on a 10° incline at 1.25 m s−1. The labels ‘Exo’ and ‘NW’ represent the Real-world Optimized assistance and Normal Shoes conditions. Conditions were presented in random order, with a constraint that the exoskeleton would only be donned and doffed once to reduce experiment time.
