The blue line represents the empirical relationship between the two quantities estimated by means of linear regression. The estimated correlation coefficient is 0.42. The observed slope of the blue line is statistically significant (the two-tailed P-value is 2.7 × 10−9). Error bars are defined on the basis of the 1st and the 3rd quartiles as the lower and upper bounds, respectively, from 100 Monte Carlo runs.
