  1. Slopes calculated using central difference approximation, for modelled yearly incidence rate changes of 2% decrease, 1% decrease, no change, 1% increase, and 2% increase. We propose that stage 4—Prevalence Equilibrium—occurs when the change in the slope of prevalence decelerates to an average of 0% (±0.01%).
