The distance decay function is shown in orange. It shows the relationship between travel time and the ‘exceedance probability’, that is, the cumulative proportion of communities that can reach a HCF in a certain travel time (or longer). The distance decay function was estimated by fitting a logistic function through data (blue) on the travel times between each community and the nearest HCF (Residual Sum of Squares, RSS = 0.0019).
