The mean intensities of all voxels in all particle images at each energy loss are indicated with the continuous blue line and mean intensities of the volumes, reconstructed from these images with a modified version of relion_reconstruct, are indicated with the yellow dashed line. Applying an empirical constant scaling factor of 119 to the mean intensities of the reconstructions, the curves become nearly identical, showing that the EELS profile is maintained by the reconstruction procedure.
