A schematic overview of the work flow to generate the data. First great tit offspring were collected from the wild were used to generate F1 and F2 generations for the aviary experiment. Blood samples from F2 females were collected from four time points and two thermal treatments. Standard Illumina protocols were used for library preparation and sequencing. Several quality control steps were performed for raw sequencing reads for subsequent filtering steps. Quality filtered reads were mapped against the reference sequence and methylation counts were recorded for statistical analyses.
