Flowchart of Materials and Methods. 19 mice underwent histological-fixation before they were prepared microsurgically. The extracted lumbar spine segments were all stored in EtOH until micro-CT scanning. The data were then reconstructed and analyzed. The samples were embedded (Technovit 9100, Kulzer GmbH, Hanau, Germany) and slices were stained and analyzed using conventional 2D histomorphometry. The results were analyzed for correlation (Fig. 3) between the micro-CT and histological slices1.
