Measurement of Mn(II)-oxidizing activity in the gene disruption strains and corresponding complementation strains. Gene disruption and complementation strains of the key genes poxB, sodA, spy and katE were constructed. All the strains were grown in liquid Lept medium in the presence of 1 mM Mn(II) for 5 d. Subsequently, the Mn oxide concentrations of these strains were measured using the LBB method. The wild strain MB266 was used as a control.
