Hair follicle density of the forearm compared between men and women in study 1, study 2, and the combined sample. There was no significant difference in HFD between men and women in study 1. Women presented higher HFD on the forearm in study 2 and in the combined sample. However, this difference was explained by women’s smaller body size. On the x-axis the density of the HFD is plotted. The black line represents the statistical mean value, the red and blue lines, respectively, represent 95% confidence intervals.
