NT-Sr decrease osteoclast formation and function in vivo. (a,b) OVX rats were sacrificed eight weeks after implantation, sections of the metaphyseal regions of the proximal tibias (the area above the proximal end of the implant) were selected for TRAP staining, and osteoclastic parameters such as N.Oc/BS and Oc.S/BS were measured. The red multinucleated cells were considered osteoclasts. The scale bar represents 100 μm (a). Low-magnification images are presented in Supplementary Figure 5. (c) The serum levels of CTX-I and PINP were examined by ELISA. *p < 0.05 compared with the Ti group, #p < 0.05 compared with TiO2-NTs, and %p < 0.05.
