Instructional affective sharing increases punishment for accidents. Boxplots with jittered data-points show participants’ wrongness and punishment judgments in two conditions: when they were instructed to share the victim’s pain (affective sharing group) and when no such instruction was provided (control group). Instructional affective sharing increased punishment ratings, but left wrongness judgments unaltered.
