From: Chemical inhibitors of Candida albicans hyphal morphogenesis target endocytosis
Expression of the hyphal-specific genes HWP1 and ECE1 is suppressed by TFP. C. albicans SN148 cells were ectopically induced to produce hyphae by induction of STE11ΔN (KC753) (a) or UME6 (KC763) (b) under the MAL2 promoter. Cells were grown overnight in 2% raffinose and shifted to 2% maltose for the indicated amounts of time in the presence or absence of 10 µM TFP. ECE1 and HWP1 transcript levels were normalized to 18 S rRNA. All readings were then normalized to the 1 h induction point ( = 1).
