Yeast mutant strains defective in activation of the Slt2-independent genes in response to CAS are sensitive to this compound. CAS sensitivity of the indicated yeast strains was performed in a 96-well microtiter plate assay with CAS concentrations ranging from 1000 to 1 ng/ml. Each well was inoculated with ~104 cells from an exponentially growing culture. Plates were incubated for 48 h at 30 °C, and cell growth was determined by measuring absorbance at 595 nm. The graph corresponds to a representative experiment.
