Diurnal changes in pollen deposition. (a) Pollen deposition shows no linear relationship with time of day at the community level (mean and standard errors per hour shown), but in the case of individual species, more pollen may be deposited as the day progresses (e.g. (b) Stachys neurocalycina; rho = 0.267, p = 0.011), show no relationship (e.g. (c) Ruta chalepensis; rho = 0.005, p = 0.962) or decline as the morning ends (e.g. (d). Allium trifoliatum; rho = −0.226, p = 0.054).
