The values of spall strength computed with MD simulations (reported here), QCGD predicted “atomistic” values and experimentally calculated values5,10,11,13. The dashed-red line is a new strain rate dependence of the spall strength that bridges the MD predicted values with the experimental values at strain rates greater than 106 s−1.
