From: Brain atrophy in the visual cortex and thalamus induced by severe stress in animal model
Immunohistochemistry for IBa-1 as microglial activation and the result of morphometry. SPS-exposed rats showed enhanced Iba-1 IR and dendritic branch compared with sham-stressed rats both in the visual cortex and the thalamus (a and b). The statistical analysis showed significant hypertrophy in the visual cortex and the thalamus (e). A significant increase in the number of Iba-1-positive cells was also detected only in the visual cortex (f). The number of Iba-1-positive cells in the thalamus failed to reach significance but indicated an increasing trend (p = 0.10, one-tailed Welch’s t-test) (f). *Indicates p < 0.05 on one-tailed Welch’s t-test.
