The density-dependent reproductive function is plotted for several male breeding stock levels: from 20 males (blue line) up to 400 (red line), at 20-male intervals. For a given male stock (one line in the chart), the density-dependent coefficient decreases when the number of females increases, meaning that fecundity is negatively impacted by the excess of females relative to breeding males.
