Each circle corresponds to one département. For comparison, we generated fake Poisson data mimicking the typical values observed in the dataset: the grey dots give the sample mean and variance for 14 realizations of 1000 Poisson processes, with true means randomly generated between 0 and 10. (b) For each région, Poissonness plot computed for the tail of the data. See Supplementary Table S2 for more details on the régions.
